Johnny Weir

Whether witty or wise, controversial or charming, shocking or silly, sweet or sassy, provocative or profound, inspiring or infuriating--or any combination of those--Johnny Weir, the three-time U.S. Champion, two-time Olympian, and World medalist figure skater, almost always says something worth quoting whenever he commentates a skating competition, makes a TV appearance, gives an interview, holds a press conference, writes, tweets, or is caught on video. His quotes needed to be collected and shared; hence this blog.

God only knows what flies out of my face when I’m spinning.

I miss the ice. I miss being totally alone with my music. I miss flying through the air. I miss the cold. I know this will all end. Stay positive and focus on the things that make you happy.

He does the same run-through on a daily basis, clean and perfect, so it gives him the opportunity to interact with the judges, the audience, and to really give us that, you know, wild sassy pants unicorn that he's become this season.

PT: "Johnny, one of your ribs is out of place." Me: "Ain't nobody got time for that." PT: "Can you rest?" Me: "Do you have a blow dart?"

No practice video tonight because I skated like poo, but I sweated so there's that. Well, I shimmered. No pain, no progress.

That thing of when it's a bit breezy & your ass cheek and a nipple fall out of your inadequate work-out clothes while on the street. #classy

I am actually in my car on my way to practice. I am wearing, let's just say it's a pair of underpants and a silk robe. That's usually how I roll first thing in the morning.

I worked for my whole life for six minutes in front of the world at the Olympics, and being gay had absolutely nothing to do with it.

If I have one regret about my career it would be that I wish that I had worked harder when I was younger.

Working hard! 300 crunches, 60 emails, one quick underwear dance to "Bad Romance", hardcore exfoliation, bed.

When I'm thirty years old I don't want to look back at Priscilla, someone I see more than my own mother, and remember her as a coach. I will remember her as my friend and someone who was always there for me no matter what, and in my opinion, that's what a good coach should be.

Finding so much solace being on the ice and doing something I'm good at. For those hours I feel at peace and like I'm not a "monster.

[What has your experience with 'Be Good Johnny Weir' been?]

I think the reality series is a great growing experience for me. Since I was young, I worked with my trainer, Priscilla Hill, by re-watching things I had done, by her filming my practice. I would re-watch it after and this show is kind of the same premise, except it's my videos. It's my home movies and I can go back and I can look at things and see what happened and how it could have been avoided and what kind of drama there was surrounding it, and that's a beautiful thing

It just got too hard, honestly. I had the option of choosing a happy life or to be alone for more time and completely alienate everybody and all of my friends and family once again, to diet like crazy, to get yelled at every day. It is all worth it, but there comes a time in your life when you have to decide what's next.

It would be like fighting fish. It would be like throwing one of the fish into the bowl without slowly lowering him in with the bag. I mean you're...just would be right at each other.

It will be a long time until I wake up in the morning not imagining that I’m late for practice, and in addition to never forgetting the sheer magic of giving my heart and soul to the world, I will never forget the smell of the air, the glint of the sun on the slippery surface, or the feelings I had 17 years ago on that cornfield.
