Johnny Weir

Whether witty or wise, controversial or charming, shocking or silly, sweet or sassy, provocative or profound, inspiring or infuriating--or any combination of those--Johnny Weir, the three-time U.S. Champion, two-time Olympian, and World medalist figure skater, almost always says something worth quoting whenever he commentates a skating competition, makes a TV appearance, gives an interview, holds a press conference, writes, tweets, or is caught on video. His quotes needed to be collected and shared; hence this blog.

I see fashion very much like art installations. When I put a jacket on, that’s a Picasso to me. And I appreciate the work that people do to actually produce something to make it onto a rack so that I may buy it.

My mom went out shopping today.--Hi, Mom!--She's for sure going to see this.--She went out shopping today, and she bought me what I can only call a light oatmeal pair of biker shorts. And reading between the family lines I think she's frustrated that I'm still single.

We've practiced together and I get the feeling it's like when you walk into a store that you can't afford and then you need to walk right back out.

[Terry Gannon, Well, we're in Vegas. Let me ask you: What odds would you have given that we wouldn't see a Russian skater in the top three?]

I buy shoes; I don't gamble.

If there's somebody, even if it's an older lady, I will see her park at the same time as I do, and then I rush through the store just so I make it through check-out before she does. We are in Olympic level competition, me and baba.

Buying myself new underwear for Hanukkah. It’s time.

My new underpants are arriving today so, it’s gonna get pretty stellar around here.

I went into a pharmacy specifically to stalk a hot dude who parked near me on a scooter. I purchased hand sanitizer & met no one. #reality

Well, there was Halloween candy at the grocery today. Feel like candy corn in July is a tad premature. Like, can't I go swimming first?

I was like mid extreme couponing for Nair and bananas, and I don't know what happened, but the next thing I knew, I was on a bus to Foxwoods in Connecticut, which is a casino.

A long day ahead that would be better spent in bed or shopping for dragon clothes with the Khaleesi. Up and at 'em!

Blogger's note: "Khaleesi" refers to the Game of Thrones character Daenerys Targaryen, also known as "Mother of Dragons."

Was out shopping and someone walked by and said, "All hail the Queen." Consider my 2016 made.

We are terrified of the sun. We are so white and we work indoors. I go big with my hair which creates a natural shield. I bought all of my weaves yesterday.

It definitely is helpful when Tara and I get to go the barns first and meet the horses because we get to look them in the eye, and we get to give these beautiful creatures a proper iron stare down and just kind of really, really inspire them to win so that Tara will win so we can go buy shoes.

Tara’s a really great Kentucky Derby betting woman, and I support from the sidelines. I like all my debts to hang in my closet.

That horrible realization that you've just purchased "Select-A-Size" paper towels. Give me billowing @Bounty with Sakura print forever.

I prefer touching and feeling the things I'm shopping for, but the interweb makes buying an entire living room in your pajamas so nice.

I do love to shop, but I love fashion and design even more. If something costs $4,000 or something costs $4, there's not much difference as long as I think it's beautiful.

No place I feel more like an idiot than in a home improvement superstore. "Sssir, where's the thing you use to tighten the knobby things?" "A wrench?" "No it's different. It's squiggly."

I love seeing how they decide that a certain shoe would sell at "Pay Less" stores for $12, and a shoe that looks similar would sell at Manolo Blahnik's for $580. It's kind of like deciding how one girl at Worlds who does seven triples ends up in 12th place, and another girl who also does seven triples is in first.
