[Q. Have you ever done anything incredibly stupid just to prove a point? If so, what?]
In a sign of solidarity, I used to fall down on purpose just so my pair partner wouldn’t feel bad if she fell. In my training time with my first coach, I would storm off the ice to show that I’d had enough and didn’t need to hear her, but in reality I was just missing my own training time. I wore my Bosco Sport clothes that say “Russia” all over them at major competitions simply because I didn’t feel any support from the American Federation, and I wanted to prove to them that I could do everything I wanted without them and without playing their games. But many people who don’t know my past issues or who are just casual skating fans thought I hated America, which was never the case. Point is: I always have done and will continue to do things to prove a point, stupid or not.

Johnny Weir
Whether witty or wise, controversial or charming, shocking or silly, sweet or sassy, provocative or profound, inspiring or infuriating--or any combination of those--Johnny Weir, the three-time U.S. Champion, two-time Olympian, and World medalist figure skater, almost always says something worth quoting whenever he commentates a skating competition, makes a TV appearance, gives an interview, holds a press conference, writes, tweets, or is caught on video. His quotes needed to be collected and shared; hence this blog.
