Johnny Weir

Whether witty or wise, controversial or charming, shocking or silly, sweet or sassy, provocative or profound, inspiring or infuriating--or any combination of those--Johnny Weir, the three-time U.S. Champion, two-time Olympian, and World medalist figure skater, almost always says something worth quoting whenever he commentates a skating competition, makes a TV appearance, gives an interview, holds a press conference, writes, tweets, or is caught on video. His quotes needed to be collected and shared; hence this blog.

I decided to go more of Stanley Tucci’s character from The Hunger Games. I’m trying to stay between the lines of Johnny on Skating with the Stars and the rest of the NBC men’s family in Brooks Brothers.

To friend Nico:
I'm going to spread 'em, basically, on national television, every week as a judgetress for Skating with the Stars.

Dancing with the Stars is the biggest show in America. And being asked to judge their skating spinoff is a huge honor. A million girls would kill for this job.

I loved being a judge. It was very difficult because we had to...well, it's a big network, it's ABC, and Disney owns them, and like, they hired me to be Johnny Weir, and then, when I was sitting there, I was like, OK, I can't be really Johnny Weir, I mean kids are watching us...so I felt constantly a little bit careful, and I didn't give America what I wanted to.

Bethenny, if I wanted to be a woman, I would have had the surgery years ago, I'd be Johnny Weir with a vagina or Lady Gaga. I don't need to be you.

They were like, "OK, at least for the first week, just give us one week where you're kind of normal--almost normal--and don't curse."

(T)o me, it's very clear: you don't care what we think, and I don't really care to watch you actually perform anymore because you aren't listening to our critiques.

It takes a lot more than a strongly worded tweet to change MY opinions. Nice to see support for SWTS, whoever you love. I love my sport.

He was sort of the Perez Hilton of figure skating.

[If you were to pick one celebrity to have on [Skating with the Stars], who would you love to see come on the show?]

Christina Aguilera. Basically 'cause I just want to look at her.

That was so elegant. I totally got you channeling bunnies frolicking across...a beautiful meadow.
